Side by Side
Stephen Sondheim
Choreography: Phoebe Rumsey Music Direction: Joanne Hounsell Company: Saltwater Inc.
A revue show featuring the work of Stephen Sondheim, commissioned early in his Broadway career, it includes favorites from Gypsy, Follies, and A Little Night Music. Side by Side was updated in this production with off the cuff narration of local comedian Mike Delamont, and creating a theatrical cocktail party on stage.
This
allows the songs to take on new meaning; boisterous party scenes give way to
moments of solitude and self-reflection. As the revelry rages on and the drinks
flow, the brilliance of Sondheim is revealed; from the fun and frivolity in
numbers from Company and Follies, to the commentary on marriage
and relationships in The Little Things We
Do Together and We’re Gonna Be
Alright, to the dramatic and revealing soliloquys of Being Alive and Send in the
Clowns.
Featuring: Sara-Jeanne Hosie, Mike Delamont, Alison Roberts, Kat Palmer, Joseph Bulman and Alan Macdonald

A young priest arrives in the small town of Lac Saint-Jean in the fall of 1918 determined to ward off disease and despair infecting the bodies and spirits of its residents. He commissions a painting depicting the Virgin Mary, and its artist begins selecting a model from a medley of local virgins. Against a darkly dramatic backdrop, The Madonna Painter weaves a story of beauty, fantasy and hidden desire.

R & J: An Original Performance Creation
Adapted by Sean Guist & Cast
Light Design: Josh Hellawell Costume Design: David Adie
Featuring original scenes and choreography, R & J is an engaging exploration of theatricality, inspired by Gounod’s opera, Baz Luhrman’s film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, and of Shakespeare's original text and characters. Three diverse couples present unique versions of the story: a modern-day Romeo and Juliet who communicate only through movement, a same-sex couple in the Victorian era, and two teenagers in 17th century France.

A macabre circus with elements of performance: fashion runway, dreams and nightmares, and the Ringmaster himself tell Shakespeare's classic tragedy set against the ever-changing ruin of a Gothic cathedral.
SPAIN
Michael Rubenfeld
Rubenfeld has created a truly unique piece of theatre; it is at once smart, maddening, ironic, sexy, understated, and funny all the while dripping with authenticity. The text is minimal, but the subtext is not. Spain tackles the boundaries of friendships and relationships head on as Jared, Eric and Beth constantly struggle for the right balance only to be thrown one twist and turn after another. The characters are achingly real and we not only connect immediately with Eric and Jared but also hate them at the same time as the figure out their complicated relationships, leaving Beth on the outside.
